I’ve spent five and a half years and nearly 1,000 posts on FoodBelfast.com writing about other people’s food. I’ve moaned and groaned in both agony and ecstasy. I’ve marveled at some of the best food in the world and I’ve slated some of the worst.
And now comes the time when I’m opening up to have other people do the same about my food. Because, during Belfast Restaurant Week (October 6-13), myself and the Restaurant Pimp are taking over the Circle at Deane’s for two nights only.
We’ll be cooking up a four-course storm, all in the aid of the Bubble Foundation. And two of the biggest names in the North’s food history will be joining us to keep us on the straight and narrow. On Thursday 11th October,Michael Deane will join us upstairs and on Saturday 13th October Barry Smyth will be the making sure the Pimp and I get food out of the kitchen. Both chefs have held Michelin stars for their cooking. The closest the Pimp I have come is eating in such establishments. It’ll be challenging, fun and entertaining, but most of all it’ll raise money for a very worthy cause.
The hitch? You decide how much you think the food is worth. There isn’t a set price for the four-course meal… those who dine can decide how much the meal is worth and all profits from the food will go to the Bubble Foundation. Wine and all other drink will be their usual prices.
The menu is currently under construction and we’ll post details here soon but reservations for the two nights open tomorrow (Tuesday 21st August). There’s 30 seats available on each night and our very own retired blogger Manuel will be running front of house.
And for one last twist, one person who attends will get to review our food right here on FoodBelfast.com as well as in our papers. The tables are well and truly turned.
So if you’d like to make a reservation at Bloggers takeover the Circle night at Deane’s on either October 11 or 13th, call Deane’s on 028 9033 1134 or for more information call John on 07841100025 - BOTH NIGHTS FULLY BOOKED!!!!!
